Disney Must-Knows If You're Traveling Soon
Going to Disney World in the next few months? Here's what I'd want a friend to tell me before I left.
Beat the Heat
It's still hot, mama, so plan around it. Bring a refillable water bottle and ask for free ice water at any quick-service spot. Save the indoor, air-conditioned rides for the afternoon. Book a midday break at your resort or the pool, because a rested family beats a family that "powered through." A cooling towel and sunscreen you actually reapply are worth the pack space.
Closures to Plan Around

Walt Disney World Railroad (Magic Kingdom): closed for about a month starting September 28, with a return expected around October 29.

Tiana's Bayou Adventure (Magic Kingdom): closes November 2 for its first refurbishment since opening. It's expected back in December, and the General Store closes with it.

Carousel of Progress: still closed for its reimagining, with a reopening expected in late spring 2027.
Magic Kingdom on a Party Day
Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party runs through October 31, and I say do it. You won't regret it. Party ticket holders can enter at 4 PM and the party runs 7 PM to midnight, with trick-or-treating, the Boo-to-You Parade, and Stitch's new dance party in Tomorrowland.
The catch is that on party nights the park closes at 6 PM for regular day guests. That means no fireworks and no regular nighttime show without a party ticket. Dates sell out, so book early. Later in the year, Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party runs 24 select nights from November 8 to December 22.
The Souvenir Hack
See something in the park you love? Look it up on the Disney Store website first. If it's there, you can have it shipped home, and it might even be cheaper. You skip carrying it around all day and you skip the impulse-buy line at the register.
What's Happening Through the End of the Year

EPCOT Food & Wine Festival: through November 21, including the new "Cheers to Cheese!" exhibit at CommuniCore Hall.

Frozen Holiday Surprise: performing at Cinderella Castle during the Christmas party.

EPCOT Festival of the Holidays: November 27 to December 30. EPCOT closes at 9 PM instead of 9:30 PM during the festival, and the Candlelight Processional times have moved earlier.

New at Hollywood Studios: Animation Academy: Olaf Draws! opened September 14.

Savery Snacks
Buzzard Wings from Pecos Bill Tall Tale Inn & Cafe - these weren’t my absolute favourite. There wasn’t a ton of meat and it was just a lot of bone, however the toppings and sauce were good. Doom Buggy Dumplings from Sleepy Hollow - now these were the best dumplings I ever had. I pretty much inhaled these as I was walking over to Tomorrowland. The sauce definitely has a kick to it, but was delicious! Bowl of Bones from Friar’s Nook - okay who thought of adding Coca Cola cherry to the sauce?! Whoever did is genius and these were my absolute fave. I am definitely a Diet Coke girlie BUT this sauce was one of a kind.

Dole Whip
Dole Whip and Mango Chamoy Float from Aloha Isle - my gosh tajin in dole whip?!
This was amazing, but if you don’t like spice you can either ask to modify or it may not be the right choice for you.
This was the best spin on DOLE whip that I’ve had at Disney thus far and I hope they bring this back next year.
The best perk about this is that you can get it during regular Magic Kingdom park hours during Halloween season or during MNSSHP.

Jock Lindsey’s Hangar Bar
Jock Lindsey’s Hangar Bar Fright of the Espresso - you got 3 to try all with cold brew: pumpkin, caramel popcorn and candy corn.
I was hoping for real candy corn and not marshmallows and I had to modify a bit due to me being dairy free, but all in all it was a very fun presentation and they tasted good.
My favourite was the one with pumpkin spice liqueur and pumpkin spice on top.
Jock Lindsey’s Hangar Bar Candelabra Eggs - I never thought to even put fried chicken on top of a deviled egg before, but man were these delicious! This was a perfect shareable item, but you bet your bottom dollar I devoured them all by myself.
🎄🎅🏻 Christmas Is Almost Here

Disney Jollywood Nights is the newer one at Hollywood Studios, with an "old Hollywood glam meets Christmas" theme. It has a smaller lineup of about nine rides, lower wait times, its own fireworks and skating show, and specialty food and drinks. It runs 13 nights from November 7 into early January, and it's the first year the event stretches into the new year.
🎅🏻 Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party
Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party is the classic one at Magic Kingdom. It's a family-friendly party with holiday parades, castle shows, ride overlays, and free cookies and cocoa. It runs 24 nights from November 8 to December 22, and most of the park is open.
